Best Hyatt in Singapore - Andaz Singapore Review

The Andaz Singapore delivered nearly 3 cents per point value on World of Hyatt redemptions with a spacious corner room upgrade, though a perpetually closed pool left something to be desired.

The Andaz Singapore sits on the 28th floor of an office building, which sounds less glamorous than it actually is. The location works well for accessing both Orchard Road shopping and the Marina area without being in the thick of either.

This is Hyatt's boutique lifestyle brand trying to offer contemporary design and personalized service at a more approachable price point than Park Hyatt. The Andaz brand tends to attract a younger, design-conscious crowd.

I stayed three nights using 87,000 World of Hyatt points during peak-ish season right before Formula 1 came to town. The cash rate was over $860 per night, making this one of the better points redemptions I've booked.

Thanks to World of Hyatt elite status, I was upgraded to a corner deluxe room with city views. The property features a 24-hour guest lounge and rooftop pool, though that pool situation deserves its own discussion.

Here's my complete review of the Andaz Singapore and whether it delivers on the lifestyle hotel promise.

The Room

Upon arrival, I was upgraded to a one king bed corner city view deluxe room. I originally booked a regular one king bed room.

The room was large and spacious with tons of windows. A corner room, but facing away from the Marina. While it was a high-floor room—the lobby for this hotel is on the 25th floor—the view was nice but not scenic.

Upon entering, there was a cramped entryway. Just to the left was the restroom, and beyond that a narrow hallway leading into the main bed area.

The bed area featured a king bed with a built-in headboard and nightstand. Nightstands on either side of the bed. On the side closer to the windows was a panel to control the motorized shade and blackout curtain.

Beyond the bed was a built-in couch and table that functioned as a desk for me.

Moving into the bathroom, there was a single vanity along the windows with large counter space.

A rainfall shower and dedicated toilet room. While it wasn't a Japanese toilet, there was a fountain spray bidet feature.

The Property

The lobby of this property is on the 28th floor of an office building. The location is actually pretty good, not too far a walk from Orchard Road or the Marina area. Though not in the center of either.

The property had plenty of amenities despite the office building location.

There was a lounge called The Sunroom with coffee, tea, and small bite-sized provisions for all guests. Open 24 hours a day.

Beyond that, there was the restaurant that served breakfast. I didn't have breakfast included in my stay, so I couldn't feature it. Though I've heard very good things from colleagues who have been.

There's a rooftop pool. However, every time I tried to visit, it was closed for an event. Very disappointing.

Booking

The Andaz brand is part of World of Hyatt. This property is currently a Category 6 hotel, meaning nights using points range from 29,000 to 37,000 World of Hyatt points per night.

I went during peak-ish time, right before Formula 1 was in town. It was listed as off-peak when I booked though, so I was able to snag three nights here for 87,000 points total.

Given that the cash rate was $864.28 per night, this proved to be an incredible use of World of Hyatt points. That's nearly 3 cents per point value.

Final Thoughts

The Andaz Singapore delivers solid value for World of Hyatt points without trying to be something it's not. This isn't a luxury property competing with the St. Regis or Ritz-Carlton. It's a contemporary lifestyle hotel that does the basics well.

The corner deluxe room was spacious with tons of windows and thoughtful touches like motorized shades and built-in furniture. The bathroom was functional with good counter space and a bidet feature, though nothing spectacular.

The Sunroom lounge open 24 hours with coffee, tea, and provisions is genuinely useful. Having access to snacks and drinks at any hour adds value, especially when you're jet-lagged or working odd hours.

The location works well if you want flexibility. Not quite Orchard Road, not quite Marina Bay, but close enough to both. Sometimes that middle ground is exactly what you need.

At 87,000 points for three nights when cash rates were over $860 per night, this represented exceptional value at nearly 3 cents per point. That's well above typical Hyatt redemption values.

The Andaz Singapore won't wow you, but it won't disappoint either. It's a reliable, contemporary property that maximizes points value while delivering comfortable accommodations in a convenient location.

For World of Hyatt members looking to stretch their points in Singapore without sacrificing comfort, this is a smart choice.
