The Edit by Chase (formerly known as the Luxury Hotel and Resorts Collection, or LHRC), is a collection of Chase Sapphire hotels that offer elite benefits without holding elite status at hundreds of hotels worldwide. Here's everything you need to know.
A commonly unused benefit of many premium travel rewards credit cards is the ability to get hundreds of dollars in benefits, just by booking hotels through a banks travel portal. For The Amex Platinum, it's booking through their Fine Hotels and Resorts (FHR) program, for the Capital One Venture X it's booking through their Premier Collection, and for the Chase Sapphire, it's booking through The Edit.
The Edit, which is formerly known as Chase's Luxury Hotel Collection (LHRC) allows cardmembers of various Chase cards to access elite-benefits, just by booking through the Chase Travel Portal. Think of the Edit as almost a "Chase Sapphire Hotel" collection.
Cardmembers on the following cards are able to access these benefits:
If you have the Chase Sapphire Reserve or the J.P. Morgan Reserve, you'll want to book The Edit hotels directly through the Chase Travel Portal by going to Chase.com --> Ultimate Rewards Portal --> Book Travel --> Search Hotels and all eligible hotels will have a little indicator with the words "The Edit" at the bottom. If you have the Chase United cards, you're going to have to book through the legacy Luxury Hotel and Resorts Collection website.
While benefits vary property-to-property, generally speaking booking The Edit hotels through Chase come with the following benefits:
These benefits are on top of any hotel-specific promotions that occasionally get run including (for example) pay for 3 nights, get the 4th free, access to the club lounge, etc.
Enjoy premium benefits at select properties with your Sapphire Reserve:
Since each stay comes with a $100 property credit, no matter if you're staying one night or seven, the optimal strategy to maximize this program is to book short, one or two night stays to maximize the $100 credit. To take this all a step further, if you book multiple one-night reservations, often you can ask at the front desk to link your reservations, so you don't need to move, however you may be eligible for one $100 for each reservation. However, YMMV.
Since The Edit hotels give you Elite like perks without having elite status, the optimal strategy to maximize this benefit is to use it at hotels where you don't already get benefits through Elite status. For example, if you have Marriott Bonvoy Platinum status, the benefit of Daily Breakfast for 2 would be already given to you through your Platinum Status, so the benefit with the Edit wouldn't be as valuable.
However, stays in a Boutique Hotel or at a chain you don't have elite status with is a great way to maximize this program. This can also be a great way to get elite-like benefits while you're on the path to earning elite status.
